Hi all. Hope everyone is doing great out there. After family of my other half came back from a trip to Hawaii, I saw a photo of them swimming below some falls in a tropical lagoon which inspired me to create this new work. A mother dolphin with her rapidly growing youngster, swim in a full moon lit tropical lagoon. Believe it or not, this painting was quite a challenge. I tried to create the usual 3D image using layers of acrylic with oil enhancements. Lots of shadows and reflections . As some fellow artists will understand, a lot of fighting with the design elements was done to gain a final product that I actually am a bit proud of. This entire painting is from my head to the canvas not using any replication to keep the creativity going. Hope you like it. Till next time.. Enjoy... John Garland Tyson |

![]() Hello all. Our family beach house has to be one of the most peaceful settings on the Monterey Bay. Located near Moss Landing, about half way between Santa Cruz and Monterey, one of those special environments we are blessed to enjoy. As I get older, I seek out the serenity of this place when ever I can, putting a chair in the sand and watching the waves , getting inspiration for paintings and relaxing. Often we have pods of dolphins and whales that breach, right in front of you. The area in front of our development is pretty private and one can be the ONLY one on the beach at any given moment. There is a wooden runway and stair case going down from the dunes onto the sand below. As the artist, I am able to create a bit more rustic looking staircase. I decided to add some children playing with their dog in the waves and a flock of water birds in flight heading down towards the Monterey peninsula. This painting has been created as a present for my sister's birthday. I hope she will like it. If you have any special places you would like for me to create an artists impression of, contact me through my site at www.tysonart.net and I can do something special for you. Perhaps you would like something already created. Each original painting featured on my site has a suggested price but I am totally willing to entertain any reasonable offer unless the piece is being shown on another site like Laguna Art . Prints on canvas can be created through myself, at approximately 40% less than the original price for a similar size. Sorry for the self promotion, but I have a goal this year of actually selling more of my work to the public. Until next time.. enjoy... John Garland Tyson ![]() Hello all. We recently visited the rugged northern coastline of Mendocino County and I took several photos of the area for painting inspiration. One of the places we went to was Point Arena Light house. The land 6 miles north and south of the light house was donated to the public to enjoy. Many great rock formations carved by the pounding waves clearly show the land being slowly removed by water, now a wonderful natural habitat for wildlife. One of my favorites are the pelicans that soar effortlessly on the wind . I had to put one into the painting. The light house is open to the public but show up on a non-foggy day so you don't miss out on the view from the top. I highly recommend this trip up the coast for all you soul searchers out there. It will add a new breath of life into all who venture there. Hope you like it... till next time enjoy...
Hello all. I just finally finished this painting of a male lion on an overlook with a view of a wonderful valley filled with life. Water from the mountain fills the valley with a shallow liquid environment where giraffes, elephants and other wildlife catch a much needed drink. Flamingos travel over on the right. The lion is about to head on down himself. This second painting of my new safari collection took a lot of time to create . Wild places like this do still exist in reality but perhaps not much longer if we do not guard and protect it. I hope you enjoy. Until next time.
