Austin on vacation.. pet portraits

Hi all.. Hope you are having a great week. I thought I would share with you one of my latest paintings. A neighbor and friend of mine requested a painting of her great little dog Austin, who is actually one of my dog's best playmates. She gave me several photos to work from to get the markings and details of her pooch, for reference. I then thought it would be fun to add a more interesting back ground , having him sitting on a window bench seat with a cool tropical beach back ground. I love having the creative freedom to let the painting evolve into something more interesting than just a dog sitting on a pillow or sofa.
