We embarked on a cruise ship, aboard the Eurodam, part of the Holland American line, traveling from Seattle WA to Juno Alaska in August of 2017. We had several excursion ports including Sitka, Ketchikan, and Victoria BC. This was one of those bucket list trips, being able to see amazing glaciers like the Mendenhall glacier in Juno as well as traveling deep into Glacier Bay National Park to actually view the Margerie Glacier in the Tarr inlet cracking off into the bay. It moves about 6 to 8 feet per day and sounds like a thunder/lighting storm as it breaks apart. This particular painting was inspired by one of many views we enjoyed while traveling through the region. It is the first of several new Alaskan theme paintings in this new series. Hope you enjoy...
Margerie Glacier of Glacier Bay in Alaska
Hi all. The last of the set of paintings inspired from our wonderful Alaskan cruise. We did some whale watching and did see some whales. None of them were jumping out of the water that we saw but if they did , I hope they would have looked like these. Humpback whales migrate every year from the Hawaiian islands to the north to places like Alaska to feed after giving birth in warmer waters. I hope you enjoy this painting I created.
