Hi all... finally finished Luna light.... a painting that I created starting with acrylic and then adding oil to for a more 3 dimensional image.. The moon is always a much larger challenge than folks might think. Attempting to use the correct brush that can make a "near" perfect circle.. Once the foundation for the moon is painted, multiple layers of color, shadows, edges etc.. have to be applied till it starts taking on a lunar form. Some artists will just give up on it, painting a simple smaller white ball and covering it up with clouds.. It is more difficult to deal with it the way I do, having it stand out, hoping to have it look like you could reach in a grab it out of the painting. Not sure why I feel led to make things more difficult but I figure its my constant wanting to perfect my craft on many levels. Yes, the wave is probably a bit lighter than it might appear in real life but its always nice to be able to use a spot light with a dimmer to create the illusion of dark to light on what's existing rather than being stuck with limited changes in contrast.. A photo of this painting will be sent soon to Fine Art America so collectors can create it into an amazing print with whatever size and framing they wish.. Original is for sale as well through my site at www.tysonart.net
