Hello all. Here is another desert landscape painting I created . The cactus were fun but lots of work. I spent many hours detailing them. Painting this reminded me of when I was going to San Jose State University many years ago. I was in the Natural Science department and we went on a field trip to Death Valley. I was amazed while collecting specimens for the class, how much life and color and diversity there was in this amazing environment. Some plant life and animals that exist no where else on the planet. We were able to go out into areas that were not typical tourist spots and stayed in the borax mining facility of Ryan above the valley floor. This place was a bit crazy as it also was the place where the movie Spartacus was filmed with Kirk Douglas. There were some left over boulders from the movie props that were left behind, light as a feather in comparison to the real rocks near by. This painting was of course inspired by Lisa at Swank Interiors of Palm Springs, as another example of my work, hopefully for her clients to appreciate and get some new business from. Hope you like it.. Till next time enjoy... John Garland Tyson Tyson environmental art
