Hello all. As I have been invited to show and sell some of my work in the Monterey Bay area, I decided to create a few new pieces including some friendly sea lions and kelp as well as some other pieces going forward that have a typical look to our Northern California sea life that folks in this area can relate to. Our kelp forests are a uniquely balanced ecosystem with the right amount of mammals feeding on the urchins to keep the undersea forest from being over consumed. Our fishing needs to be controlled as well off shore to keep this system in balance. An excellent close up view of a kelp forest and it's inhabitants can be achieved by going to the Monterey Bay Aquarium where there is a huge aquarium that contains a large kelp forest and many fish and other creatures. This will give you a chance to see what life goes on under the surface without having to become a certified diver to do so. I decided to add some sea lions into the mix for fun as well as some Garibaldi fish that are common to our Monterey bay (the orange ones towards the bottom of the painting). Hope you like this one... until next time Enjoy!!
